Sunday School

- After the Sunday Morning Worship Service
- September-April
- Children ages 4-8
- At the Church
“…telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.” Psalm 78:4
This text reflects the mandate that we at Zion URC are striving to fulfill as we teach Sunday school from year-to-year. The children all meet together with their teachers and a song leader and spend some time together singing and learning Bible songs to the praise and glory of God. After this time of singing, the students go with their teacher to the classroom, where they hear stories and lessons from the Word of God. The Bible stories are presented to the children in such a way that they will come to see the complete “story” of the Bible – God’s plan of redemption. It is our hope and prayer that the children will see the awesome wonder of God, and come to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, sent to earth by God the Father through His love, and that the Spirit will work in their hearts even at a young age to help them understand what sin is and to convict them of their own sin and seek forgiveness through the cross of Christ.

Cadets

- First Three Fridays of the Month
- September to April
- Time: 7:15 – 9:15 PM
- For boys from 10 to 13 years old.
- At the Church Building
The goal of Cadets is to help boys grow spritually in all areas of life – devotional, mental, physical, and social.
A typical Cadet meeting starts with opening exercises including Bible reading and prayer. The boys then break into their cadres with their counsellors to do further Bible study. The last part of the evening is spent doing a variety of badges, or small projects designed by the counsellors.
Each year we participate in the annual Snow Derby in February and the Cadet-A-Ree in April with other United Reformed Churches that form the Berean Cadet Council.

Zion URC has been blest with a large Young People’s group that is committed to their Lord and Saviour. We start off our evenings by singing and devotions with the Teen Club. After we have opened the night with prayer the young people divide into smaller groups for the Bible study. Last year we studied the book of Philippians using a lesson book from Life Guides.
The Young People’s group also loves to volunteer and participate in social events. Our volunteering activities include Wentworth Lodge, Operation Christmas Child, and the food bank. Our social events include bowling, hiking, roller-skating, skiing, camping, and themed travel dinners. Once a month we get together on a Sunday afternoon for a Coffee House. There are also several URC conferences throughout the year and the Young People are always encouraged to attend these.
Visitors and Friends are more than welcome!
